New shit from SF’s J-Boogie featuring Lunar Heights. Throwback jammy jam called “Inferno” off J-Boog’s new Soul Vibrations album:
Ninjasonik, I like you. You make me laugh.
French blog “moogsensations” should put to rest any kind of notion that Air is at all original.
(I am pretending for a moment that there’s someone out there who’s really adamant about the originality of Air.
I would whip out this blog and smirk, “Busted and disgusted, hipster doofus.”)
Tonz’n’tonz of French weirdness, mostly 70s, mostly synthy.
Check out this mix to get a ear for what the blog is about. (Super Spy Tip: to DL the stuff, go to the comments, see the first comment, copy, paste, change “soap” to “http.” The French are kinda paranoid, I’m guessing?)
I love me some easter eggs.
Here’s another Obama mix to add to the collection, this one from The Evil Genius DJ Green Lantern and Russell Simmons. Heads up: that Mavado “We Need Barack” dub is sick as fuck. Don’t say we didn’t warn you:
Took a few delays but the Green Lantern x Russell Simmons x Barack Obama mixtape is here. With a line up that consists of Jay-Z, Talib Kweli, Nas, Charles Hamilton, Joell Ortiz, Busta Rhymes, Joe Budden and more you should already know it’s dope.

Along with a new book Eminem: The Way I Am, Marshall Mathers debuts a snippet from the new album’s title track, aired on Shade 45 (Sirius Satellite Radio) this week. Apparently Slim’s album Relapse will be be released between 50 Cent’s Before I Self Destruct (12/09/08) and Dr. Dre’s highly anticipated album Detox TBA (originally slated to drop in 2004).
(320 | Serato ready)
I had been pretty cynical about Q-Tip’s post Tribe efforts for a while, until I saw him perform some of his new material at Rock the Bells in Maryland this past summer. He did some solo joints before joining up with the rest of ATCQ and blowing away the crowd to close down the show.
So fuck it, I’m back on the bandwagon. “Gettin’ Up” has been on heavy rotation for me for a while, and now his new tune “Move” is spreading like an L.A. County wildfire. This new shit is that crack, for real. Dilla (RIP) on the beat, of course:
It’s the middle of the month, and with the economy still in the shitter and getting shittier by the day, it’s time for another handout from the generous souls here at buhbOmp HQ. And like all good bureaucracies charged with overseeing the well-being of its needy constituents, we’re a day late and a DJ short. While Cashless is in Japón brokering peace between the Jamaicans and Japanese, Empanadamn and Lil Tiger got the goods to hold you over ’til the first rolls back around. Try not to spend it all in one place:
empanadamn | Halloween treats
Bernard Herrmann “Opening Credits” of Psycho
Herrmann is a big dude in film scoring, serving up sounds of the scary, sinister, and suspense. From the classic Psycho, DJ Scratch used this composition in Busta Rhymes’ “Gimme Some More”
Castlevania “Stage One”
The first level ditty to one of my most favoritest video games ever in the whole wide world. Simon Belmont got whip appeal.
Mike Oldfield “Tubular Bells”
Virgin Records first official release that topped the charts for some time in the UK. The album, mostly instrumental, implemented a lot of sounds never recorded on such a successful release. The title track was also popularized by the film The Exorcist.
Mötley Crüe “Shout At The Devil”
As a child, this song kinda scared the shit out of me, being about yellin’ at the devil and all. But my brother was jammin this, so I guess it was OK. Out of all the Crüe, I liked Mick Mars because he looked like a short Alice Cooper. Factoid: Vince Neil is part Mexican. Thanks to Guitar Hero, people everywhere now rejoice in Satan and don’t even realize it, so nothing out of the ordinary.
RJD2 “The Horror”
I’m not a big fan of the dude, but RJD2’s got a couple of bangers. This is one makes me envision a montage for 70s slasher flick for a diabolical doctor dude who’s really not a doctor, but a school nurse assistant who’s not quite right.
*Bonus bOmp*
DJ Qbert “Alcohol Razorblade Slide”
My favorite track and scene from “Wave Twisters”. The line, “he separated the skull and masturbated in front of it,” is a sound-bite referencing Jeffrey Dahmer (I think)
download: Candy with a razorblade in it. Shhh.
dj lil tiger | get a job, grouch!
H.I.S.D “Break of Dawn”
On of my favorite tunes from the talented Hueston Independent Spit District crew making moves in my hometown. Off their dope Summer Sessions album.
Solange f. Q-Tip “Sandcastle Disco (Remix)”
Because I never tire with showing Houston love, here’s another Space City product with some strong drums and a feel-good vibe. Solange showing she can hold her own.
Monareta “Me Voy Pal Mar”
I’m loving the dub/electronic flare and the nice edits in this tune from this Bogotá duo. Colombia holding it down.
Aretha Franklin “Jump To It (Prince Klassen Young Professional Re-Edit)”
Killer rework straight out the heart of Texas. Austin’s Prince Klassen def keeping the parties movin’.
Jermaine Jackson “Erucu”
Since we’re taking it back a bit, here’s a raw disco classic that should bring out the beast in you.

/// MAIN EVENT: 10p-1a ///
UNEMPLOYABLE NYC will host an event where art and music collide. With the release of the new album “Green Streets” from HANDINHAND, the DJ/production/song-writing duo of Mike Genato & Katy Walker, break new ground. Veteran producer, Mike Genato, (Mathematics, Peter Hadar) and music composer for TV and film has been releasing music for over 10 years and Katy has been DJing for equally as long. The event allows them to showcase music from the album as well as the singers and artists featured on the project.
YADIRA BROWN who wrote and performed “Sweet Relief” on the album, is an Austin-based singer/songwriter whose music mixes electronic production with the singer’s warm, powerful voice and passionate lyrics to produce a unique, mature sound that stands completely on its own. In the past she appeared on the Living Legends (the Grouch) and Bus Drivers albums. Leaving underground hip-hop behind in order to pursue a more enlightened, feminine and personal sound, Yadira began writing new material and performing regularly in Austin and surrounding areas. This is her first NYC performance. DEE TEAGUE will also perform “Free like Me” from the album as well as HandinHand’s re-imagining of the Gil-Scott Heron song, “Superman” (in this case “Superwoman” which has been popular among DJs). Singer/song-writer, IRENE MERRING will perform the powerful album opener, “Time Will Tell”. A HANDINHAND DJ set will also feature live vocals from Irene Merring.

Dope new shit out for free download from the PTR crew in Canada:
Canada’s Public Transit celebrates its 10th anniversary with Next Stop, a compilation available as a free download. The label’s roster is well-represented with founder Moonstarr, LAL, Voice, Think Twice, Arch_Typ, Murr and InsideAmind. Other artists include Karma & Lotus, Incubator, Grahmzilla and Aadm, but the label website does not indicate if these are signings.
DJ LIL TIGER starts things off with a love-themed Soul set with splashes of classic disco and contemporary R&B. EMPANADAMN holds it down in the second half with a mesh of synthy dance, pop, Hip-Hop and electro.
