/// Following the success of last month’s inaugural party, we are proud to present the second edition of the AFRO-DUB SESSIONS: a monthly party that combines live music and DJs to celebrate the best in Afrobeat, Afro Groove, Reggae, Dub, Dubstep and more.
Our featured guest DJ this month is EMCH of SUBATOMIC SOUND SYSTEM. Subatomic Sound is an internationally known, New York-based collective that produces, records, and performs live and electronic music rooted in the diaspora of 70’s Jamaican dub reggae and sound system culture. EMCH also hosts Subatomic Sound Radio on BrooklynRadio.net and KEXP’s enormously popular Mo-Glo broadcast on Radio New York, 91.5fm. On his shows, he flexes the latest music from every continent around the globe where traditional sounds intersect with urban club culture. ///

SOUND LIBERATION FRONT is a Brooklyn-based non-profit organization devoted to the power of music as a socially liberating and unifying cultural force. More importantly, we want to liberate your ass on the dancefloor. Our previous productions include the Sound Liberation Festival ’09 in Brooklyn and the Soundlib parties at Moe’s in Fort Greene.

It’s that time again:
This week at SoundLib we’re proud to present special guest The Double-J, founder of Foundation Media and Trilogy Records.
Double-J is a veteran of the game, with years of experience running his independent label and his promotions and production company, both in D.C. and here in New York. He’s got deep knowledge of music and will bring his Hip-Hop and soul sensibilities to the decks to complement the Music Nerd All-Stars‘ selections of soul (new and old), Hip-Hop, afrobeat, reggae and much more.
We’re on at 9pm this week and we go until 1am. And, as always, it’s FREE all night. Thanks to everyone who trekked through the snowstorm last week to keep us company. The weather should be a lot more cooperative this time around. Hope to see you there. …

Our FREE party SoundLib is back in business, and this week we’re featuring special guest DJ Gibril Kuyateh (aka The GiKu Experience), founding member of Afro Mosaic Soul and host of The GiKu Experience Radio Show on Giant Step Jukebox.
We featured one of Gibril‘s mixes here last summer, so I’m really geeked to have him come through and do a set.
He’ll team up with me and Q, aka the Music Nerd All-Stars to bring you eclectic selections of soul (new and old), Hip-Hop, afrobeat, house, reggae, jazz and much more.
We start at 8pm this week, so we won’t keep you late.
Check out some picks from the last SoundLib we did back in January.
And here’s the detailed info for the party:

I’m DJing a birthday rave for the homie Moe Choi (Choimatic) Friday night ’til dawn (forreal). Also playing will be $mall ¢hange, J-Zone, DJ Rumor & Erik The Red. Craziness is to be expected.
And in traditional rave steez gone 2010, you’ll have to email this contact for the secret coordinates. Yes, it’s like that.
The homie and fellow DJ / producer, DJ (Omar) Morsy, recently had his DJ equipment stolen. As a result, his friends are putting together a benefit to help raise some dough to help him regain the tools that allow him to make his living. If you’re in NYC, it would be great to see you out at the benefit. Help out the homie – break off some bread, offer some used equipment or hook-ups. There will be DJs, live performances and OPEN BAR.
If you can’t make it out and are interested in making a donation, Morsy is offering digital downloads in exchange for your contribution. Hit him up at nanachill@nanachill.com. Anything is appreciated!
Thank you for your efforts. Please spread the word!
Our buddies over at Hater Magazine are having their Spring 2010 issue release party and they invited your dude, Jef Cashless, to handle sounds for the evening. The theme of the issue and party revolves around tattoos, so they’ve held it at Gaslight Gallery and named the party, Inked Up. Shout to V. Chaba on flyer details. Haters always get it rocking. Don’t miss it!!!
Gaslight Gallery
1416 Westheimer Road, Houston, TX 77006-2617

You might hear some hip hop and then some more hip hop and then a little more of hip hop (and maybe some Lady Gagg-Gagg).
+ $1.50 Any bottled beer in the house = Win!
Update: Cancelled.
Thanks to the success of our first two SoundLib parties, we’re doing it again on January 27. As usual, details below:
